Bossier City hosts the Louisiana Boardwalk, with distinctive boutiques and entertainment; and is home to Barksdale Air Force Base. Barksdale is one of the largest employers in the area, and is home to the majority of the US Air Force's B-52s. Yearly attractions not only entertain the residents of Bossier City apartments but also attract visitors. The main events are annual state wide Mardi Gras celebration in late February or early March, the Holiday in Dixie Festival in mid-April and the Black Eye Pea Festival in early June.
